Due to Rainy being a stray we do not have any background history for her, therefore, any judgments made have been based on her time spent at the sanctuary.
Rainy is a very sweet and affectionate girl but can be a little nervous when meeting new people. She is a typical lurcher and loves a warm, soft, and comfy bed, and isn’t particularly fond of the rain. Rainy enjoys playing with squeaky toys and bones but more than anything she loves playing with other dogs.
Whilst at the sanctuary we have found Rainy to be non-destructive. She is not currently clean in her kennel so we are unsure as to whether she has been house-trained previously.
Rainy walks wonderfully out on walks, she is walked in a harness and walks to heal. Due to being a Lurcher with a prey drive for small furry animals, she would not be suitable to be let off the lead unless in an enclosed area. We would also recommend she wear a muzzle whilst out of the home due to her prey drive. She would not be suitable to live with cats or small animals.
Rainy doesn’t appear to have had much training but does know the command sit, for this reason, she would benefit from further training.
Rainy has shown signs of separation anxiety at the sanctuary and will bark and cry when left alone. We have found that spending time with another dog has really helped her and she has become best friends with another dog that also came to us as a stray from the dog warden, Babet – https://www.pactsanctuary.org/babet-dog-for-rehoming.html. It would be amazing if we could find Babet and Rainy a home together!
Rainy would be best suited to a home with somebody at home the majority of the time or with another dog for company.
Rainy requires access to a private, secure garden attached to the home with a minimum of 6ft fencing.
