To set Polo up for success the home environment is key to his happiness. He needs a calm home and can live with children of 14 years and above. He enjoys the company of people, but he finds it hard to settle if there is too much going on. The location should be a quite rural area that doesn’t become busy with dog walkers or horse riders as Polo can be very reactive when he sees them. When first meeting new people Polo can be aloof and although he may appear confident, he does have his worries, this is because for part of his young life he didn’t get the right socialisation. He has made good progress and potential owners will be shown by our training team how to continue building his confidence when he goes out into a home. His home must have a large secure garden and his dream home would have a large secure paddock or field to have off lead exercise in. He would also be happy if he was taken in the car once a week to a secure dog walking field. The garden is Polo’s favourite place, he enjoys this more than walks as he can play games with toys and do scent work sniffing out his toys and hidden treats. He also loves relaxing in a paddling pool. Polo would benefit from an owner with German Shepherd experience or similar working breeds. He needs to be the only pet in the home. He is reactive to other dogs & will bark & lunge towards them. Polo’s new owners need to be dog savvy as well as confident & comfortable with large breeds. He can be strong on lead, so will need owners who are able to hold him.
Could you be Polo’s perfect match?
Polo is a stunning 3-year-old German Shepherd X. His favourite thing in life is water and he loves to lay down in a paddling pool to cool down on a hot day. He enjoys playing with toys and interacting in games with people and he has been learning to bring and drop a toy into a box. Polo is so clever he even tidies up! Training & learning new things are great for Polo as he can learn very quickly. He has a great personality and enjoys the company of his favourite people. If you are shortlisted for this handsome boy, please be aware a meet will be arranged within 48 hours.
