Jess is a gorgeous 7 year old Hound. She has settled really well here at Salisbury and is now ready to find her new home. Jess’ ideal home would be adult only; however, this could be lowered slightly dependant on experience and confidence of any younger adults in the home. Jess has shown guarding behaviours around items of high value such as toys and food. It’s important that Jess doesn’t have access to the kitchen in her new home as she will counter surf and steal food items! Jess can find some people quite scary therefore will be required to stay on lead and wear her muzzle out on walks. She will also need her own room where she can go to relax when visitors come round. Jess does need to be the only pet in the home but after successful introductions she could potentially have some walking companions. Jess is a smart girl and can open doors if feeling frustrated so a home with secure, lockable doors is essential. She will also require her own, secure garden. Jess’s new home should be in a quiet area set back away from roads and traffic; she can become frustrated and reactive towards too much external activity.
Could you be Jess’s perfect match?
Jess is a real lover of the outdoors and enjoys quiet walks in the countryside. Typical of her breed she loves to use her nose, so scent work and food puzzles and enrichment are a great outlet for this. Once Jess has settled into her new home she can potentially be left for a period of time, she’s more than happy in her own company and can settle nicely by herself with her favourite soft, squeaky toys. Jess is currently on some training programmes that will need to be continued in the home; our fabulous training and behaviour team will be on hand throughout Jess’s reserve process and once she’s gone home. Jess is also currently on some medication so her new owners must be aware there will be some medical costs. If you are shortlisted for the lovely Jess we will be in touch. Jess will require 5-6 visits over a 2 week period so it is important you live no more than an hour away.
