Cooper is looking for a patient and understanding home with older teens. He is social with other dogs when out and about. He will need a home without cats or small furries, and we have no history of him with livestock. Cooper has never lived in a home before, any time left alone is best built up gradually. He is likely to by shy around visitors to the home and is seeking a quiet home environment. It takes Cooper a little while to build a bond so potential adopters should be prepared to come and visit Cooper a few times here at the centre so you can get to know each other. A local home would also be best so as to accomodate a few home visits to help settle him in.
Could you be Cooper’s perfect match?
Cooper is an adorable four-year-old Collie cross who is adapting well after his difficult start to life. We have seen him grow in confidence since being in our care. Cooper takes his time to trust new people, when out and about he will choose to avoid strangers if they try to approach. With his regular carers he is slowly learning that being fussed isn’t a scary thing however he will benefit from a hands off approach whilst he builds a bond. He has been visiting our staff accommodation bungalow to get used to the sights, sounds, and smells of a home environment and he has been doing well. Cooper likes to go for walks with other dogs and have a play. He has a lot of walking buddies here at the centre who have shown him the way around our woodland. Cooper loves his food and treats; he enjoys easy food puzzles. Cooper is a blank canvas when it comes to basic training. Things will need to be taken slowly until Cooper has built up that bond of trust. Cooper is working on building confidence with getting in the car so will require access to quiet walks from the door. He is not used to being groomed, so is slowly building up a positive association with this too.
