Bella has a common condition affecting one of her knee caps, known as luxating patella. This is not causing her any problems currently but does increase the likelihood of her developing arthritis in that leg later in life.
Though this is not problematic for her currently, PACT will cover any treatment needed later in life related to this particular condition. Because of this, before any rigorous exercise Bella must be warmed up – a short walk around the garden before ball throwing for example or a walk on the lead before being let off for a run.
Bella does not like her neck being touched, for example to clip a lead to a collar. We don’t believe this to be pain related but primarily a behavioral issue. This could stem from treatment in her previous home or from previous pain in that area but ultimately we can’t be sure of the cause. The kennel staff have developed techniques to handle Bella meaning they can clip a lead to her collar but this has taken time and people she trusts (and lots of tasty treats of course!)
If Bella’s behavior proves problematic in the home, PACT are able to provide support through the support of a qualified and professional behaviorist and behavior modifying medication if deemed appropriate.
Bella needs a home with no other pets and no young children. Any resident children would need to be at least 14 years old and dog savvy.
If you feel you can give Bella the home she needs, please visit our ‘how to rehome’ page to send us your application.
